There are many fan-theories regarding who Jon Snow’s real parents are, with the most popular theory being that his father is Raegar Targaryen and his mother is Lyanna Stark.

However, while responding to fan messages on Twitter, George R.R. Martin, the man himself, may have just accidentally revealed who Jon’s real parents are.

And it’s not R+L!

GRRM took to Twitter on April 7th to address concerns about his new book “The Winds Of Winter” possibly being spoiled by the Season 6 premiere of the T.V. show.

Martin assured fans that only very minor details of the book’s story would be spoiled, as the book series and T.V. show are going to be very different from here on out.

After his fans were satisified that it would be O.K. to watch the tv show without any major plot points being spoiled, Martin decided to drop a little bit of a hint regarding who Jon Snow’s parents are.

Assuming that his “little hint” wouldn’t actually be able to be used to spoil anything, GRRM went ahead and told all of Twitter who the bastard boy’s parents are.

It only took 30 seconds before fans started retweeting GRRM with messages like “Robert Baratheon and Catelyn Stark?” and “But if Cat was Jon’s mother… Why did she hate him? And why was there even confusion over the parentage?”

Martin instantly saw that he had given away too much information with his “little hint” and proceeded to delete the tweet, hoping that nobody would remember it.

This is not the first time Martin has attempted to give his fans small hints and ended up spoiling major plot points of the story.

Before the red wedding episode aired on television, Martin spoiled the epic scene by tweeting one of his “little hints” to all of his fans.

His “red wedding” hint was seen by almost 5,000,000 twitter users before he realized what he had done and deleted the tweet.

According to Martin, he has a habit of “not really thinking these things through,” and will often blurt out random spoilers when talking to fans at meet-n-greets.

“I get so excited when I’m able to talk about my books to my fans, and sometimes I just say stupid things,” GRRM told Unleashed Reality.

“I’m sorry if I’ve spoiled anything for anybody, but what’s done is done, and I think we should just move on.”

Well, there you have it folks, George R.R. Martin has all but CONFIRMED that Jon Snow’s parents are in fact Robert Baratheon and Catelyn Stark.

Take that R+L=J fanboys.
