It’s something that book readers have been expecting ever since the end of Season 3, and now, a few short years later, we’re finally getting what we want.
Yes, dear readers, it has been confirmed by George R.R. Martin himself; Lady Stoneheart will be making her debut appearance in next week’s episode ‘The Battle Of The Bastards’!
“I know it doesn’t make any sense,” Martin told reporters.
“We just saw that Beric Dondarrion is still alive in the show, which means he obviously hasn’t offered his life in exchange for Catelyn Stark’s.”
“If it was me in charge, she would have been revived at the end of Season 4, and the story would be very, very different right about now.”
“But those clowns are going to bring her back anyway. They’re going to give her a massive role in the battle of Winterfell.”
The “clowns” that Martin made reference to are showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, the men in charge of the TV adaptation of Game of Thrones.
“He called us clowns, huh?” Benioff asked while letting out a short chuckle.
“The thing is – and we’ve made this abundantly clear over the years, by the way – we just don’t give a shit about what happened in his books.”
“We haven’t even read all of the books. I only made it to the second one before I got bored, and I don’t think D.B. even knows what the first book is called.”
“He’s right, I’ve got no bloody clue about the books,” Weiss added.
“How were we meant to know that Beric was supposed to sacrifice himself to revive Catelyn?”
“We’re just going to bring her back without an explanation and hope that people don’t ask any questions, because we sure as hell don’t have any answers.”
