At the time of writing, it’s 2:34 AM on the 6th of July in Australia, which means it’s been one full year since Pokemon GO came out. Were you expecting some kind of celebration? Well, too bad, because the Pokemon GO one year anniversary event has been cancelled.
This breaking news comes just days after reputable Pokemon GO news sites such as Pokemon GO Hub, Pokemon GO Informer, and OtakuKart promised their readers that a one year anniversary event was about to begin. According to them, a shiny Pikachu would be released to the public, along with double XP and triple Stardust.
Sadly, they were all wrong. We spoke to Niantic’s Chief of Events, Mark Jacobs, who had this to say: “Yes, it’s true that we were originally planning on having an event for the game’s one year anniversary.”
“However, the Pokemon GO one year anniversary event has been cancelled. Sorry, but if I’m being honest, you kids don’t deserve an event. Right from the beginning, you’ve been entitled, spoilt, whiny little shits.”
“Seriously, give me one good reason why you deserve an event. You moaned when we took gyms offline for a few days to implement the new system, you complained when we limited you to one free raid per day, and you are nothing but negative on our social media platforms.”
“You should all be ashamed of yourselves. When we first started creating this game, we thought it’d be fun and we’d have a playerbase who would enjoy our game. You kids though, you’re the worst. No, there will be no event for you.”
Whoa, that got really intense really fast! We asked Jacobs if there was anything that we could do to get him and Niantic to change their minds about the event, and he told us that if we managed to get this article to 100,000 likes, 10,000 comments, and 1,000 shares on Facebook, he would consider it.
Well, you heard the man! Head on over to Facebook.com/unleashedrealityofficial and make sure you like, comment, and share! Hopefully Jacobs will change his mind once he sees how dedicated and awesome us Pokemon GO players really are!
